Heat insulation film

Types of film: low-emissivity (low-E), reflective semi-reflective.

Situation: Creating a comfortable indoor environment all year round, even near large windows, means keeping the room cool in summer and warm in winter. This is not always very easy, especially in winter time, as it depends on the ability of a surface to absorb and reflect heat.

Solution: These problems can be solved by using Low-E (low-emissivity) polyester film, a new kind of film for application to indoor or outdoor surfaces, depending on the type of existing glass, that is able to reduce heat dispersion.

Another solution is to use reflective or semi-reflective film (using metallic-fume or “sputtered” metal-ion technology).

Low-E film contains an extra-thin layer of vaporized aluminium, which reduces heat dispersion by 25-35%, preventing most of the infrared radiation (i.e. heat) generated by the heating system from being lost through the window.

In summer, this kind of film also reduces heat from the sun by up to 73% and glare by up to 81%, by filtering out UV radiation.

Low-E film has a scratch-resistant coating that improves the resistance and durability of the glass. It can also help increase the efficiency of double glazing, which only provides a partial solution to the problem. Low-E film is available in various colours to suit all kinds of environment.
